Over a decade of experience in Virginia taught Thomas Bowman that good policy is good politics. A native of Fairfax County, VA, he has worked in Democratic politics for major consulting firms, elected officials and organized labor.

Thomas co-founded the Competitive Commonwealth Fund in 2016, a PAC that recruits and covers startup costs for Democratic Virginia General Assembly candidates to run against previously safe, incumbent Republicans. The PAC recruited and funded 15 Democratic General Assembly candidates in 2017. Thomas left the PAC to join Laborers Union in Virginia in 2018.

He served for five sessions with members of the Virginia General Assembly, specializing in labor, workforce development policy and appropriations. Thomas most recently represented LiUNA in Virginia during the 2019 Democratic takeover of the General Assembly, advocating for policies that would let working families thrive through procurement and labor law reforms.

Bowman has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington (‘13).
